Saint Martin /Sint Maarten island with playfull & colourful architecture & great beaches
TWO COUNTRIES ON ONE SMALL ISLAND WITH GREAT LOCATIONS FOR SPRING/SUMMER FASHION
The island of St. Martin, which is half French (part of France), and as such a member of the EU (European Union). The other half – Dutch Sint Maarten, which is now independent, used to be a Dutch colony.
On the French side people speak French, but everybody speaks English on both sides. There is no border and it is easy to shoot on both islands - in one day, without permit restrictions. The island is a melting pot of ethnic groups and architecture and free spirits, and is very well organized - European style.
Saint Martin & Sint Maarten are popular for their harbors with luxury international yachts on massive piers, modern speedboats, sailboats and colorful fishing boats tied to small wooden jetties, playful street architecture and modern villas.
On this extremely small territory one can find almost any landscape that exists - except for waterfalls. Juicy green areas, rollings hills, rough Atlantic cliffs and deserted sandy beaches. There are interesting small deserted islands around - only 15 min from the main island by boat.
Playful architectural decor and luxury villas offer locations for almost any creative concept. There are daily direct flights from Paris, Amsterdam, New York, Miami, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Atlanta, Toronto and almost all other Caribbean islands as well as cheap connecting flights from all major European cities.
This and the fact that the island is duty free and has a very relaxed import policy for equipment and wardrobe, turned this place into one of the most desirable shoot locations for fashion photography, video, film and TV productions in a warm Winter region.
